DIRFloortime Comprehensive Care Program
Our comprehensive program is grounded in DIRFloortime, a developmental relationship based intervention that focuses on the power of relationships to promote growth and learning. DIRFloortime utilizes strength-based and neurodiversity-affirming techniques. Focused on the whole child, we offer a transdisciplinary approach that is well coordinated through our experienced and caring team and tailored to meet your child’s needs.
WHY CHOOSE US?
Maybe you have tried behavioral interventions and found that they are not a good fit for your child or family. Maybe you feel like 20-40 hours of intervention is too much for your child and takes away opportunities for them to be a part of school, community, and family activities. Maybe you have heard concerns from the Autistic community about the efficacy and ethics of ABA therapy.*
Our DIRFloortime based Comprehensive Care Program offers families an alternative to home or center based intensive behavioral interventions. While behavior programs focus on helping children have more socially acceptable behaviors or building skills that other children your child’s age frequently have, we take a different approach.
We build the foundational skills of connection, regulation, engagement, and relating in order to make learning more accessible to your child. By focusing on neurobiological foundations, we help children wire their brain for learning, taking advantage of the power of connection, relationship and play to grow your child’s capacities over time. This allows them to solve problems, engage meaningfully with others, and share their ideas using a variety of communication strategies.
Unlike many ABA programs, the intensity of the program is not predetermined, instead, it is tailored to fit the needs and schedule of your family and your unique child. All Comprehensive Care Clients have access to the following support:
WEEKLY
Occupational and speech therapy support, as needed In home and/or community based support from our DIRFloortime Assistant (DFA) (5-15 hours based on your needs and on a schedule that makes sense for your family)
MONTHLY
Highly experienced supervision support for the DFA working with your family. Parent Coaching- to build your skills and address the goals most important to you and your family.
QUARTERLY
Full team meetings: A chance to meet with all your providers at the same time to solve problems, answer questions, and brainstorm ideas. Keeping everyone aligned towards the same goals.
WILL IT WORK?
Our core belief is that your child and your family are not broken, and do not need to be fixed. Like all children, your child came into the world with a special set of individual differences that make them who they are. They deserve the tools to learn and grow into the person they are meant to be. They don’t need a cure. They need support, guidance, and a community around them who celebrates who they are and what they can do. That is what we do.
We celebrate joyful milestones with you and have your back when things are challenging.
DIRFloortime is an evidenced based intervention backed by years of research and grounded in developmental and neurobiological theory. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry both cite DIRFloortime as an important intervention model for Autistic children with proven outcomes in supporting children with social-emotional skills and reducing parental stress.* We are happy to provide you or your physician with a comprehensive bibliography of the research backing the DIRFloortime model.
Parents are a core team member and our aim is to empower you to support your child’s development through playful, joyful, connected everyday moments.
